A little bit of big news
So as many (if not most of you)Â have already heard that we are expecting our first child in September. We are both really excited and still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that we are going to be parents, what were we thinking! Overall the first 13 (almost 14) weeks have been pretty good. Only a few bouts of morning sickness, some food cravings but mostly headaches. I get a headache on almost a daily basis and have learned what works (Dr. Pepper and Tylenol) and what doesn’t (drinking lots of water and hoping it will go away on its on. The baby has decided that it doesn’t like ketchup. Which is very unfortunate for me as I love ketchup. I am finding new things to dip my fries in (today I was able to mix a little ketchup with some mayo to make fry sauce). I figure if I can trick the baby into eating ketchup, getting it to each fruits and veggies shouldn’t be a problem.
Which brings me to my cravings. I haven’t been your “typical” pregnant lady in the sense that very rarely (like once or twice) have I craved chocolate. The rest of my cravings revolve around fruit, pineapple and green apples to be exact. This is extremely strange because after talking to my mom she craved green apples when she was pregnant with me. Another similarity? Eggs are a no-go during pregnancy for both of us. Zach has been amazing through all of this and even went to the grocery story at 10pm to get my a cantaloupe and pineapple because “it sounded good.” For real, what a great husband I have!
Other than baby news we lead a pretty uneventful life. I just got done with a huge fundraiser for Friendship, “Battle of the Praise Bands, Praise on the Prairie.” It was the first year of the event, I was the committee chair and…WE SOLD OUT! The event was at the Fargo Theater and not only did we rock the place but we had a great time!
The next big hurtle is our lives is finding Zach a job that he loves and enjoys (so if you know of anything in Fargo, hook him up!) With that hopefully comes a house (Fingers crossed). Last weekend we “got our feet wet” and talked to a ‘buying agent.’ It was a great experience, we learned a lot and both fell in love with the house we looked at. It was really hard to walk away from the house and not be thinking about where we would put this, or that, or how awesome the loft (yes, loft) would be as a play room. However, we need to have more for a downpayment and both know that doesn’t happen over night. So for now we will stay in our current place and be happy we have a roof over our head.
The next big step in the baby realm is going to be picking colors for the nursery (yes it seems early, but we have already been asked)…my mom is really excited :-). Just so everyone know we are NOT finding out the sex of the baby. Now before you get your panties in a twist let me explain. We are both going to be happy with whatever we have and it makes all that hard work (or what I am told is hard work) worth something in the end.
Until next time (hopefully not as long as last time!)
