Last night was a great night. Amelia and Zach were able to get some sleep and at midnight were moved to a different room (someone else needed our big labor room for labor;). After we got moved we went and spent some time with little William. They let him eat again and Zach did a great job finger feeding him. He took about 12 ml and kept it all down (excellent sign). Zach came back  to the room after some bonding time and Amelia and William had some mother/son time. It was wonderful!

Amelia got up at 3:30a to go and feed again but William wanted nothing to do with mommy feeding him and just chilled out and cuddled. Some of his lab results came back overnight and they started him on a sodium supplement. The nurse and I both thought a good explanation of the low levels would be the fact that he hadn’t eaten for many hours. As of now he gets a suppliment with every feeding.

This morning Amelia again went down to try and get William to eat. He was awake and alert under the warmer and as soon as Amelia picked him up he snuggled in for a snooze. They had a quick mother to son discussion about how Amelia would always cuddle with him but he needed to step this eating thing up a bit; they changed positions and he was good. He took about 20 ml this morning. Amelia had to leave  so the nurses could do their reporting but her and Zach plan to go back in a few hours for his next feeding and some cuddle time.

Overall a great night 🙂
