Update
I just looked back and the last time I updated this was APRIL!? So sorry if anyone is out there still reading. As many of you probably already are aware the Doll family is going to become a family of four in Dec. That is some of the fun we have had over the last few months.
It is hard to list all of the fun we have had and I hope that I can get some pictures uploaded soon from William’s birthday and some of the other adventures we have had. One, not so fun, adventure we are currently experiencing is involving baby Doll #2.
On August 14th (our 3 year anniversary) we went in for our ultrasound. It was a little different than the one we had with William but I chalked it up to different town, different hospital. Here, 2 hours after your ultrasound you go in for your doc. apt to review the results and see how things are going. When we got into the office we did the normal routine and then waited for about 20 min. before the doc came in. She soon pulled up the ultrasound report and started reading. Shortly after she reported to us that they were unable to visualize the spine, bladder, one kidney, diaphragm, and one foot.
As you can about imagine this hit us like a ton of bricks and I am honestly still not sure how to handle it. We were told to come back in 2 weeks (Aug 26th) for another ultra sound which would be on the OB floor (no idea what this means) and go from there. So now we are playing the waiting game.
In addition to the “missing” parts the report also states that there is an enlarged rectum and a back up of urine in the kidney due to a blocked urethra…again, not sure what this means.
The baby has also started to slow down growing. At our 10 week apt we had a ultrasound and we were right on at 10 weeks. Now some of the baby is only at 19 weeks and it has an average gestational age of 20 weeks. This type of thing started to happen with William at the end of my pregnancy as well. We never had an ultrasound to confirm it but the measurements all pointed to a slow down in his growth. This resulted in him being born at 36 weeks gestational age. My doc this time tells me that we may not even make it to 36 weeks at this point.
I honestly am not sure how to take the news and don’t really have many answers. For now we pray, and ask for happy thoughts and warm prayers. As my mom said, maybe it was just a bad ultrasound tech and the reason the doc. was so short with you was because she was going to chew her out. So until the 26th, when we hopefully get more answers, that is what I am going to believe.
