Reverb 5: Challenges
Did you take on a new challenge in 2013? What was it? Are there challenges you deliberately avoided? What do you want to do to challenge yourself in 2014?
A new challenge I tackled with a friend this year was canning!
And as with anything, I went big or went home. Off the top of my head I think I canned the following:
- 7 quarts of salsa
- MANY (not sure on a number as my peppers kept producing) pints of pickled peppers
- 6 pints Habenero Jelly
- 23 quarts of peaches
- 22 quarts of pears
- 12 quarts tomatoes
- 7 quarts spaghetti sauce
Needless to say if a Zombie apocalypses comes we are prepared! My husband thinks I am crazy, but has enjoyed the canned peaches 🙂
I can’t think of any challenges I avoided this year, we pretty much took everything head on!
I would love to challenge myself next year to learn to pressure can. I am still scared to do it and just stuck to water-bathing this year, but maybe next year I will get the nerve up to try!
